Introducing, Nicholas Barnes!



Nicholas Barnes is the son of Gregory Sr. and Deborah Barnes of Chicago, Illinois.

Nicholas is a junior at Lindblom Math and Science Academy in Chicago. He is a member of Lindblom’s football team where he plays the position of the team’s kicker. He is also a member of Lindblom’s boys’ swim team. Nicholas has played the saxophone for seven years and currently serves as a member of Lindblom’s Concert Band and Jazz Band. He is also currently a member of Lindblom’s School Choir.

In addition to his activities at school, Nicholas is currently participating in the Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy – CPFTA. The CPFTA allows high school Juniors and Seniors to progress seamlessly from high school to any of the City Colleges of Chicago to complete a two-year Public Safety Associate in Applied Arts degree.

Nicholas hobbies are playing football and video games.

Nicholas completed the American Red Cross requirements for Lifeguard/First Aid CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers conducted by the Chicago Park District, and worked during the summer as a lifeguard at West Pullman Park in Chicago.

Nicholas is a member of New Faith Baptist Church International in Matteson, IL where he attends faithfully.

Nicholas has also attended the University of Illinois at Chicago - UIC Saturday College Early Outreach Program, which meets every Saturday morning from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm.  Nicholas has been attending Saturday College since the 6th grade. He hopes to attend the UIC where his sister Courtney presently attends as a freshman. His major is undecided at this time.

Nicholas’s  guiding principle is to “LISTEN, LEARN, LEAD AND BE THE BEST PERSON HE CAN BE”. This was the motto from the Teens for a New Tomorrow Make A Difference Youth Foundation where he was formerly employed.
